A seventh generation Kentuckian and a third generation realtor, Guthrie was reared on his family’s cattle and tobacco farm in Shelby County. He is a graduate of Georgetown College, where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. He not only lives and works in Louisville, but he enjoys giving back to his community. Currently, he serves as a Trustee at Georgetown College, on the Board of the Headley-Whitney Museum of Art in Lexington, and on the Speed Museum Board of Governors. He was the first national President of the Georgetown College Alumni Association, and he served as Chair of the Board of Regents at Farmington Historic Plantation. Guthrie also served as President of the Historic Homes Foundation in Louisville, as a Trustee to the Kentucky Independent College Fund, and as a trustee to the Association of Independent Kentucky Colleges and Universities. He is also a member of the Filson Club, Shelby County Historical Society, General Society of Colonial Wars, and The First Families of Kentucky.
